Lemon Garlic Rice
Description
This recipe prepares white rice by bringing water to a boil along with lemon zest and lemon juice, butter, and garlic powder. The rice is added directly into this aromatic liquid, stirred to combine, covered, and simmered on low heat until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked tender, approximately 20 minutes. After cooking, the rice is fluffed and allowed to sit covered briefly to finish steaming.
The use of lemon zest and juice imparts a fresh citrus brightness that complements the savory butter and mild garlic flavor imparted by the garlic powder, creating a harmonious side dish with gentle acidity and richness. The texture is traditional white rice with separate grains that hold moisture without being sticky.
This lemon garlic rice pairs well with poultry, seafood, or vegetable dishes that benefit from a light, flavorful rice accompaniment. It offers a straightforward method to enhance plain rice with natural ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup water
- 1 lemon zest
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
