Mango Margarita Recipe

A classic margarita, served on the rocks. Recipe slightly adapted from Chow.com. (Nutritional value is for agave syrup)

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 ounces tequila 3 parts
  • 4 ounces orange liqueur 2 parts (triple sec, Grand Marnier or Cointreau
  • 2 ounces lime juice 1 part, fresh
  • 2 Tablespoons simple syrup or to taste, or agave nectar
  • 1 1/2 cups Mango frozen chunks
  • kosher salt for rims of glasses
  • lime fresh, slices, for garnish
  • lime zest, optional
  • 3 cups ice or more depending on desired consistency, to blend

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice, frozen mango chunks and 1 Tablespoon simple syrup. Pulse a couple of times to mix.
  2. Add 3 cups of ice and pulse until blended. Add more ice if desired.
  3. Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of a rocks glass. Coat rim with kosher salt or sanding sugar. Pour into prepared glasses.

Notes

  • Use the above ratio to make a pitcher or a single margarita.
  • Fresh lime juice is best.
  • Coarse or kosher salt is best for lining the rim of the glasses.
