Maple Frosted Apple Blondies

Maple Frosted Apple Blondies are bars made from a batter enriched with apple butter and finely diced apples, flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, then baked until set with a moist crumb. They are topped with a glossy maple frosting made by reducing maple syrup and whisking in butter, cream, and powdered sugar. The combination offers a soft texture with warm spice and a sweet maple glaze.

Description

This blondie recipe begins by creaming melted butter and brown sugar, then adding egg, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, apple butter, and diced apples for moisture and fruitiness. Flour is folded in gently to maintain tenderness. The batter spreads evenly in a baking dish and bakes until the center is set but still moist, indicated by a toothpick coming out with moist crumbs. Cooling is essential before frosting.

The maple frosting is crafted by boiling maple syrup to reduce it, then mixing in butter and cream for richness, followed by whisking in sifted powdered sugar to achieve a smooth consistency. The frosting is poured and spread quickly before setting, creating a sweet, slightly sticky topping that contrasts with the soft blondie base.

Using tart Granny Smith apples provides a flavor contrast and helps the apple pieces retain shape without becoming mushy. Lining the pan with parchment with overhanging ends simplifies removal and clean slicing of bars.
