Maple Pecan Baked Pears Recipe

These Maple Pecan Baked Pears are halved pears filled with a mixture of rolled oats, chopped pecans, dried cranberries, and cinnamon, sweetened with maple syrup and butter, then baked until tender. The texture contrasts the soft, juicy baked pears with a slightly crunchy, spiced filling, offering a warming and naturally sweet dessert or snack.

Description

The recipe begins by preparing a filling of rolled oats, chopped pecans (or walnuts), dried cranberries, and cinnamon, combined with real maple syrup and melted unsalted butter. Pear halves, cored and stabilized with a small slice to rest flat, are topped evenly with this filling.

Baked at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, the pears soften while the oat and nut topping mellows and slightly crisps. This results in tender fruit with a textured, subtly spiced crust that combines sweet maple and warm cinnamon aromas.

The dish serves well as a wholesome dessert or brunch addition, highlighted by the interplay of juicy pear, crunchy nuts, and chewy cranberries. No complex steps or equipment are necessary, making it accessible for home cooks.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 4 pear Bartlette, Anjou or Bosc, medium
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats not instant oats
  • 1/4 cup pecans or walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries coarsely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon plus more to sprinkle
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup real
  • 2 Tbsp butter melted, plus more to grease pan, unsalted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375˚F with a rack in the center of the oven. Butter the bottom of a 9x13 casserole dish.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the filling ingredients: rolled oats, pecans, cranberries, and cinnamon. Drizzle with maple syrup and melted butter and stir to combine.
  3. Cut pears in half lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds with a teaspoon or melon baller. Cut a thin slice of pear from the back of each half resulting in a flat surface for the pear to lay on without rolling.
  4. Arrange pears in the buttered casserole dish and divide the filling evenly between pears. Lightly sprinkle cinnamon over pears.
  5. Bake uncovered at 375˚F for 25-30 minutes (depending on size and firmness of the pears), baking until pears are tender.
