Maple Soy Glazed Chicken Thighs
Description
The chicken thighs are first seasoned with kosher salt for flavor. Meanwhile, the glaze combines maple syrup, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and apple cider vinegar to create a complex sauce with salty, sweet, tangy, and slightly funky notes. Olive oil is heated in a skillet, and the chicken is added smooth side up to sear.
After 2–3 minutes, the glaze is poured over the chicken, which is flipped to allow the sauce to boil and reduce while cooking the thighs further. The chicken is frequently flipped to cook evenly and allow the glaze to thicken and caramelize on the surface. The cooking continues until the liquid reduces and chicken reaches a safe internal temperature, resulting in a glossy, richly flavored dish with tender texture.
This method produces juicy and flavorful chicken thighs suitable for serving immediately, pairing well with rice, vegetables, or salads.
Ingredients
- 8-12 chicken thigh approximately 3 lbs, boneless, skinless
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup real 100% pure
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon parsley fresh, minced
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt to season chicken thighs
Instructions
- Generously season chicken thighs with salt.
- Combine maple syrup, soy, hoisin, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl or pyrek with pour spout and whisk with fork. Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in large skillet on medium high heat. Turn skillet so it's well oiled. Add chicken, smooth (or what would be skin) side up, to sear.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes before adding sauce and then flip chicken, smooth side down.
- Keep heat at medium-high and let sauce boil, cooking down. Cook for another 2-3 minutes before flipping to smooth side down.
- Keep cooking the glaze and chicken until most of the liquid has cooked off. Keep the chicken smooth side down so that the sauce carmalizes to the chicken.
- After another about 10 more minutres of cooking, or until the glaze has mostly cooked off and chicken has reached 165 degrees, remove from heat and serve immediately.
