Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

These Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies blend sweet, softened butter and sugars with the contrasting flavors of semi-sweet chocolate chips and bright maraschino cherries. The dough results in cookies that bake to a tender texture, highlighted by the occasional tart cherry bite and topped with flaked salt that enhances the overall flavor complexity.

Description

The cookie dough combines all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt with a creamed mixture of butter, brown sugar, and sugar. Eggs and vanilla extract are added for richness and moisture. Semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries, dried and patted to remove excess juice, are folded in to introduce bursts of chocolate and fruity tartness in the finished cookie.

Scooped into 1.5 to 2 tablespoon-sized balls spaced on a parchment-lined baking sheet, they bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes until just set. Sprinkling flaked salt immediately after baking adds a delicate savory note that balances the sweetness. Cooling completely ensures the texture sets properly before serving.

These cookies deliver a tender crumb with a flavorful interplay between juicy cherries, melty chocolate, and a hint of salt, making them a distinctive sweet treat.
