Margarita Pitcher Recipe
Description
The Margarita Pitcher Recipe mixes 2 cups of white tequila, 1 cup triple sec, and 1 cup fresh lime juice over a pitcher filled halfway with large ice cubes and lime slices. The large ice slows dilution, preserving the drink's crisp, tart character. Salted rims on individual glasses add a crunchy, salty contrast to the sour lime and sweet orange liqueur notes. Stirring the ingredients together allows balanced flavor throughout the pitcher. Serving with ice in salted-rimmed glasses keeps each sip cool and flavorful as guests enjoy the refreshing cocktail.
The margarita’s bright acidity and strong tequila presence pair well with salt and lime garnish, highlighting the classic flavor profile in a convenient container to serve multiple people. This recipe is practical for home parties or casual entertaining where pitchers allow easy distribution of mixed drinks.
For a less boozy version, substitute triple sec with a homemade simple syrup made by dissolving sugar in hot water and cooling it. This tweak lightens the alcohol content while maintaining sweetness that balances the lime juice.
Ingredients
- ice for the pitcher, sliced for lime
- lime for the pitcher, sliced for lime
- 2 cups white tequila
- 1 cup triple sec see notes
- 1 cup lime juice fresh is best!
- salt to rim the glasses, coarse
Instructions
- Fill a pitcher halfway full with ice. Larger ice is better as it doesn't melt as quickly. If you'd like, put a few lime slices in the pitcher.
- Add the tequila, Triple Sec, and lime juice and stir.
- Salt the rims of your glasses by running a cut lime over the rim them dipping the wet edge into a plate of salt. Add ice to the glasses then pour the margarita from the pitcher into your glasses and garnish them with a slice of lime.
Notes
- Use larger ice cubes in the pitcher to reduce dilution over time.
- Salt the rims by rubbing lime on the glasses before dipping them in coarse salt.
- Substitute triple sec with simple syrup (made from dissolved sugar and water) for a less alcoholic margarita.
