A recipe for Mashed Sweet Potatoes! These creamy sweet potatoes are lightly sweetened with brown sugar and packed with warming spices.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds sweet potato 1 kilogram
- 1/4 cup milk 60 milliliters
- 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5 milliliters
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves ground
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- pecans optional for topping, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400˚F (200˚C). Pierce sweet potatoes with a fork and place on baking sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven until tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Once cool enough to handle, peel the sweet potatoes and place in a large bowl. Mash to desired texture.
- Fold in the milk, butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, cardamom, cloves, ginger, and black pepper. Adjust the seasonings to taste.
- The sweet potaotes are best served immediately. If desired, top with additional butter or a sprinkling of toasted pecans.
