Matcha Eggnog
Description
This Matcha Eggnog starts with whisking egg yolks, sugar, matcha powder, and vanilla extract until the mixture lightens in color, building a smooth base. Warmed milk and heavy cream are slowly incorporated to temper the eggs, preventing curdling. The combined mixture is returned to the saucepan and cooked gently until it slightly thickens, forming a rich custard.
The addition of grated nutmeg and ground cinnamon introduces classic, warm eggnog spices that complement the grassy notes of matcha. Straining the beverage ensures silky texture free of any clumps or bits. Cooling and chilling the eggnog before serving allows flavors to meld and develop fully.
Matcha Eggnog provides a distinctive seasonal drink choice, blending the flavors of traditional eggnog with the unique taste of green tea. It suits occasions where a smooth, creamy, and sophisticated beverage is desired.
