Meatball Parmesan

Meatball Parmesan features seasoned ground pork meatballs baked or air fried until cooked through, then simmered in marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. The combination of herbs like oregano and basil intensify the Italian flavor profile. This dish offers a hearty, cheesy meat option suitable as a main course served alongside pasta, bread, or salads.

Description

This Meatball Parmesan recipe starts with a seasoned mixture of ground pork, onion, eggs, breadcrumbs, oregano, and basil, shaped into uniform meatballs. Cooking by air frying at 380°F for about 15 minutes ensures the meatballs cook thoroughly and develop a browned exterior. Afterward, the meatballs are arranged in a skillet with marinara sauce poured below and over them. Topping the meatballs with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese and baking briefly until the cheese melts creates a bubbly, golden finish.

The combination results in tender, flavorful meatballs coated in rich tomato sauce and melted cheese, typifying comfort Italian-American cooking. Oregano and basil add herbal notes complementing the pork's savory richness. The dish pairs well with pasta or crusty bread to absorb the sauce.

The recipe notes include alternatives like using ground beef or mixed meats, and pan frying as a cooking method. Leftovers store for several days refrigerated, while freezing requires initial flash freezing meatballs individually to avoid clumping before transferring to an airtight container. This approach facilitates convenient meal prep and storage.
