Mee Goreng
Description
This Mee Goreng recipe begins by blending dried red chilies with oil and water to make a chili paste that forms the spicy base of the dish. Yellow noodles are stir-fried with garlic, potatoes, fried tofu pieces, and squid rings, cooked until fragrant and combined with a sauce of soy sauce, dark soy sauce, tomato ketchup, and sugar. Eggs are scrambled in with the noodles to add richness and texture, and bean sprouts provide a fresh crunch just before finishing.
The final dish is garnished with sliced lettuce leaves and lime wedges, which add brightness and complementary freshness. The lime squeezed over the noodles before eating cuts through the dish's savory and spicy notes.
