Meringue Ghosts

These Meringue Ghosts are so simple to make for Halloween with just 2 ingredients. Eat them alone or use them to top off a festive cupcake.

Ingredients

  • 2 egg white
  • ½ Cup caster sugar
  • Food Coloring Pen

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 and line a large baking sheet with non-stick parchment paper.
  2. Beat the egg whites with a mixture on medium speed until they form soft peaks.
  3. Slowly whisk in the sugar, a spoonful at a time, and continue to whisk until stiff.
  4. Spoon the meringue into a piping bag with a round tip.
  5. Pipe ghosts onto the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour or until crisp. When they are done they should life easily from the paper.
  7. Turn off the heat and leave the meringues in the oven for several hours to firm and dry.
  8. Once cooled add eyes and a mouth with a black food coloring pen.
