Mexican Stuffed Shells
Description
The recipe begins by mixing taco sauce and salsa and spreading this mixture on the bottom of a baking dish. The filling is prepared by sautéing onions in oil until translucent, then cooking ground beef combined with taco seasoning until browned and cooked through.
Cooked jumbo pasta shells are stuffed with the seasoned meat mixture and arranged over the sauce. Shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese are sprinkled evenly on top before baking. Baking at 375°F melts the cheese and allows the sauce to bubble, melding flavors and slightly crispy cheese edges to develop.
This dish serves as a filling main course with a fusion of mildly spicy and familiar flavors. Freshly chopped cilantro added after baking adds a fresh herbal contrast.
