Mini Pecan Phyllo Tarts
Description
This recipe blends melted butter, egg, brown sugar, honey, and vanilla to form a sweet custard-like base, into which chopped pecans are stirred. The mixture is spooned into preformed mini phyllo shells arranged on a baking sheet. Baking at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes sets the filling and crisps the shells, creating tarts with a crunchy exterior and a soft, sweet nut filling. Cooling before serving allows the filling to firm up slightly for easier handling. The use of mini phyllo shells simplifies preparation by avoiding the need to form pastry by hand.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 4 tsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup pecan chopped
- 15 phyllo dough Athens, mini shells
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except pecans. Mix well. Stir in chopped pecans.
- Arrange mini shells on a baking sheet. Fill mini shells with one heaping teaspoon of pecan mixture. If any of the mixture remains, distribute evenly between all the shells.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes. Let them cool before serving.
