Mini Pizzas
Description
Mini Pizzas feature crescent roll dough cut into circles and pressed into muffin pan wells to form a small pizza crust base. Topped with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, and mini pepperoni, these bite-sized pizzas bake until the dough is golden and the cheese melts smoothly. The dough crisps along the edges while remaining tender underneath, and the pepperoni adds a familiar savory note. Fresh chopped parsley sprinkled on top lends a mild herbal contrast and a fresh appearance.
The mini format is ideal for casual gatherings or easy homemade snacks, offering portion control and a fun way to enjoy pizza flavors in a compact form. They can be prepared ahead and warmed as needed. Using crescent roll sheet dough provides a flaky, soft texture that differs from traditional pizza crust, lending a tender bite with buttery undertones.
It helps to use a cookie cutter or glass rim to cut uniform circles of dough, and opting for shredded mozzarella cheese from a block rather than pre-shredded ensures better melting without anticaking agents. This recipe combines straightforward ingredients into a practical, kid-friendly pizza alternative that is simple to assemble and bake.
Ingredients
- 2 tubes crescent roll dough sheet
- 1/3 cup pizza sauce homemade or store bought
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/3 cup mini pepperoni
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, fresh
- cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Coat the cups of a muffin pan with cooking spray.
- Unroll the crescent roll sheets and cut out 12 3-inch circles.
- Press one circle of dough into each of the muffin pan wells.
- Spoon the sauce evenly among the muffin cups and top with the shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until dough is golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
Notes
- Use a cookie cutter or glass rim to get uniform dough circles from the crescent dough sheet.
- Ensure you buy crescent dough sheets, not pre-cut triangle rolls, to easily cut out pizza bases.
- Shredding your own mozzarella cheese gives better melting and texture than pre-shredded cheese containing anti-caking agents.
