Description
This recipe blends a yellow cake mix with instant vanilla pudding mix, providing structure and moisture to the cookie bar base. Eggs, vegetable oil, and water enrich the batter and help achieve the desired consistency. One cup of M&M's is folded gently into the batter to distribute evenly, with remaining candies pressed on top before baking to create an appealing candy-studded surface.
Baking at 350°F until the bars are uniformly light brown and pass the toothpick test results in a soft interior with slightly crisp edges. The pudding mix contributes to a tender crumb that differs from traditional cookie dough, producing a chewy and moist texture.

Ingredients
- 15.25 ounce yellow cake mix
- 5.1 ounce vanilla pudding mix
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 egg lightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cup M&M's , divided
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 9x13 glass baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer using the paddle attachment or an electric hand mixer in a large mixing bowl, stir together the cake mix, pudding mix, water, vegetable oil and eggs until almost smooth.
- Fold in 1 cup of the M&M's. Do not over fold or the colors will start to bleed.
- Evenly pat the batter into prepared baking dish. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup M&M's and lightly press down.
- Bake the cookie bars for 25-30 minutes or until tops are uniformly light brown and it passes the toothpick test.
- Remove and allow to cool. Cut into squares.
