Mocha Pumpkin Spice Latte

Skip the coffee shop and try this easy mocha pumpkin spice latte recipe! Pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice guarantee that this homemade version packs plenty of pumpkin flavor. One of my favorite pumpkin recipes to make on a chilly fall day!

Ingredients

Servings

For the Pumpkin Mocha Syrup:

  • 1 ounce can pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie mix, packed
  • 1 cup (227ml) milk whole
  • 3/4 cup (159g) light brown sugar packed
  • 1/3 cup (28g) cocoa powder unsweetened 100%
  • 2 ounces (57g) dark chocolate finely chopped, 70% cocoa
  • 2 Tablespoons (28ml) molasses
  • 1 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract pure
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Mocha Pumpkin Spice Latte:

  • 3 cups (681ml) milk whole
  • 8 Tablespoons espresso powder
  • Whipped Cream optional
  • chocolate syrup optional
  • chocolate optional, shavings

Instructions

For the Pumpkin Mocha Syrup:

  1. Into a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, add the pumpkin, milk, brown sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate, molasses, and pumpkin pie spice. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until a thick chocolate syrup has formed. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Set aside until needed. 

For the Mocha Pumpkin Spice Latte:

  1. Pour the milk into a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Remove from heat and cover to keep warm. 
  2. Add 2 Tablespoons of espresso powder to a large coffee mug. Pour 3/4 cup of the hot milk into the cup and stir to combine. Add a 1/2 cup of the chocolate syrup into the cup and stir well to combine. Repeat with the remaining ingredients (You should be able to make about 3 more large mugs). 
  3. Top with swirls of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup/chocolate shavings if desired.
