Monster Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

Monster Rice Krispie Treats transform classic Rice Krispies bars by adding lollipop sticks and coating them with melted candy melts, decorated with candy eyes to create playful monster shapes. This treat relies on the crispy, chewy texture of the original bars enhanced by a smooth candy shell and fun visual appeal from the eyes. It's a creative snack or party dessert for kids and adults alike.

Description

This recipe starts with standard Rice Krispies Treats, which are unwrapped and fitted with lollipop sticks to allow easy handling. Candy melts are melted and used to coat the tops of the treats, providing a smooth, colorful shell. While the coating is still wet, candy eyes are applied to add a whimsical monster effect. The coated treats are then left to set, either at room temperature or chilled to speed firming.

The final product combines chewy cereal bars with a firm, sweet candy exterior and decorative elements. Texture contrast comes from the soft, crispy interior with the hardened candy coat. The monster eyes make the treats visually engaging and suitable for themed occasions.

Setting the coated treats on parchment paper prevents sticking during firming. Refrigerating on a cookie sheet helps the candy melts harden faster and keeps the shapes intact.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 Rice Krispies Treats
  • 105-140 Candy Melts (we used Wilton melts)
  • 48 Candy eyes
  • lollipop sticks
  • parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Begin by unwrapping your Rice Krispies treats.
  2. Add the sticks to the bottoms of the treats.
  3. Melt candy melts as directed on package. Dip tops of treats in melted candy and place on parchment paper (about 35 melts covered 3-4 "monsters").
  4. Place candy eyes on the treats while the candy coating is still melted, and let set completely.

Notes

  • Make as many or as few monster treats as you want; about 35 candy melts cover 3 to 4 treats.
  • Use 4 candy eyes per treat for a monster look.
  • Placing treats in the fridge on a parchment-lined cookie sheet helps candy melts set quickly and keeps them firm.
