Most Amazing Chocolate Bundt Cake

The Most Amazing Chocolate Bundt Cake combines rich cocoa, buttermilk, and sour cream to create a moist chocolate cake with a tender crumb baked in a bundt pan. A chocolate ganache glaze adds a glossy finish, thickened with corn syrup for sheen. This cake's texture and deep chocolate flavor come from balanced ingredients including eggs, oil, and warm liquid, which contribute moisture and lift.

Description

This chocolate bundt cake recipe mixes traditional cake ingredients with cocoa powder, buttermilk, and sour cream to yield a moist, tender crumb and rich chocolate taste. The warm water or coffee dissolves the cocoa and helps create a smooth batter. Baking soda and powder act together to provide rise and texture. The batter is beaten until smooth and poured evenly into a well-greased and floured bundt pan to ensure release after baking.

The chocolate ganache is made from semi-sweet chocolate chopped roughly and combined with warmed heavy cream and corn syrup to form a shiny glaze that intensifies the chocolate flavor and provides a decadent topping. Once the cake is fully cooled, it is coated with the ganache for a polished finish.

This cake serves well for dessert or celebration occasions where a richer chocolate offering is desired. The bundt shape adds visual interest and portion ease. The ingredients and method require some attention to ensure thorough mixing and proper baking time.

Ingredients

Servings

Chocolate Bundt Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large egg
  • 1 cup water or coffee, warm
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Chocolate Ganache Glaze

  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate roughly chopped
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup

Instructions

Chocolate Bundt Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Use butter to grease a 10-12 cup bundt pan well. Dust with a little flour or cocoa powder and tap out the excess.
  2. Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl until combined.
  3. Add eggs, warm water, buttermilk, sour cream, oil, and vanilla. Use a hand mixer to beat on a medium speed until smooth. This should take just a couple of minutes.
  4. Pour batter into prepared bundt pan. Tap the pan on the countertop a few times to allow any air bubbles to escape.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes in a 350 degree oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes and then turn out onto the racks and allow to cool completely.

Chocolate Ganache Glaze

  1. Place roughly chopped chocolate into a mixing bowl. Pour heavy cream into a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Once cream comes to a simmer, remove it from the heat immediately and pour over chocolate. Let stand 5 minutes, until chocolate is completely melted.
  3. Stir until smooth. Once smooth, stir in corn syrup. Drizzle over the top of the cooled cake.
