Mud Pie
Description
This Mud Pie starts by crushing Oreo cookies finely and mixing them with melted butter to create a cookie crumb crust, which is pressed into a pie pan and baked briefly to set. Once cooled, the crust is frozen while ice cream is softened, stirred until smooth, and spread over the crust. Covered and frozen for several hours, the pie firms up.
Before serving, whipped cream is prepared by beating heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. The pie is garnished with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and optionally extra crushed Oreos or other toppings like chocolate chips, nuts, or caramel.
The pie should be stored in the freezer, covered tightly to maintain quality. For longer storage, wrap with plastic wrap and foil. To maintain texture and flavor, apply toppings individually to each slice when serving if not eaten all at once.
