Mummy Pretzel Rods

Mummy Pretzel Rods are pretzel sticks partially dipped in melted white almond bark, then decorated with edible candy eyeballs and drizzled with more almond bark to mimic wrapped mummy bandages. The almond bark sets smooth and white, contrasting with the dark pretzels and eerie eyeballs. This no-bake, assembly-focused treat is a simple seasonal snack combining crunchy, salty pretzels with sweet coating and playful decoration.

Description

This recipe uses pretzel rods as the base, dipped about three-quarters of the way into melted white almond bark, an easily melted confection coating. After dipping, excess coating drips off and the rods are placed on parchment paper to set partially. Candy eyeballs are placed promptly while the coating is still tacky to attach securely. A piping bag with a small hole is then used to drizzle additional melted white almond bark in zig-zag lines across the pretzels, creating the visual impression of mummy wraps.

The coating hardens within about 30 minutes at room temperature, firming the pretzels for handling. The contrast between salty pretzels and sweet white chocolate coating makes these fun treats suitable for Halloween parties or themed snacks.

Once dried, the pretzels should be stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature in an airtight container or sealed bag to prevent moisture or condensation that can cause the coating to sweat or make pretzels stale. Refrigeration or freezing is not recommended as condensation may harm texture and appearance. These treats keep well for up to two weeks.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces almond bark white
  • 24 Candy Eyeballs edible

Instructions

  1. Prepare a large baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
  2. Grab a medium microwave-safe bowl and place 12 ounces of white almond bark in the bowl—microwave for 1 minute. Stir and heat for additional 30-second increments until melted. Once melted, allow to cool for just a few minutes.
  3. While the almond bark is cooling, place a large piping bag in a tall glass. Pour the melted white almond bark into the piping bag.
  4. Start by dipping each pretzel rod about ¾ of the way up with melted almond bark. Allow the excess to drip off, then place it on your parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all pretzels are dipped.
  5. Once all the pretzels are dipped, add your edible eyeballs. Then take the piping bag and cut a small hole in the tip. Drizzle the remaining melted almond bark over the dipped pretzels in a zig-zag pattern creating the effect of wrapping your mummy.
  6. Allow at least 30 minutes to dry the mummies. Once dry, you may need to use a small sharp knife to trim off excess white chocolate.

Notes

  • Store finished Mummy Pretzel Rods in an airtight container or sealed plastic bag at room temperature in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks.
  • Do not refrigerate or freeze the finished pretzels to avoid condensation that can cause the coating to sweat and the pretzels to become stale.
  • Make fresh batches as needed to maintain texture and appearance over time.
