Naan Bread

This naan bread recipe uses self-raising flour, yeast, and warm water to create a soft dough that rises before shaping into small balls and rolling out. Cooking on a pan allows bubbles to form and the bread to brown, producing a bread characterized by a lightly crisped exterior with a tender interior. The addition of butter, garlic, or coriander on top adds flavor and moisture, making it an ideal accompaniment to kebabs and curries.

Description

Naan Bread combines self-raising flour with yeast, sugar, salt, egg, milk, cooking oil, and warm water to form a dough that is firm yet pliable. After mixing, the dough rests in an oiled bowl to rise for at least 30 minutes, allowing the yeast to activate and create air pockets for softness. Once risen, dividing the dough into small balls and rolling them out prepares them for cooking.

The cooking method involves placing the rolled-out dough on a pan with water added on one side, which helps create steam and bubbling. The bread cooks until bubbles appear and then flips to brown the other side. This process yields naan with a soft texture inside and a lightly browned crust.

Finishing with butter, garlic, or coriander tops the naan with additional aroma and richness. Serving immediately preserves the bread's softness and warmth, and naan pairs well with dishes like kebabs and curry, enhancing meal enjoyment.
