Neiman Marcus Cake

Neiman Marcus Cake blends yellow cake mix with pecans and coconut flakes for a nutty and textured base, topped with a creamy cream cheese and powdered sugar layer that bakes to a slightly browned finish. The cake achieves a moist, rich flavor from the butter and cream cheese components complemented by the crunch of nuts and chew of coconut.

Description

This cake starts with a base made by mixing yellow cake mix, softened butter, chopped pecans, coconut flakes, and eggs, poured into a pan for an even layer. A cream cheese frosting layer, made from powdered sugar, cream cheese, egg, and vanilla, is spread over the base and baked to achieve a set, lightly browned top. The finished cake offers a balance between the sweet, creamy topping and the textured, nutty crust below.

The coconut and pecans provide both flavor and a pleasing contrast in texture in every bite. This dessert pairs well with coffee or as a sweet finish to a meal.

For variety, the yellow cake mix can be substituted with chocolate cake mix to introduce a richer chocolate element. The cake stores well in the refrigerator for up to a week and also freezes for longer storage, making it convenient to prepare ahead.
