No Bake Oreo Dessert
Description
This dessert starts with a crust made from finely crushed Oreo cookies mixed with melted unsalted butter, pressed into a pan, and chilled. The filling consists of softened cream cheese whipped with powdered sugar, folded together with whipped topping to create a creamy layer over the crust. A separate chocolate pudding layer is prepared with instant pudding mix and cold milk, mixed with crushed Oreo cookies before setting slightly and spreading over the cream cheese layer.
The dessert is topped with more whipped topping and additional crushed Oreos for texture and visual appeal. Chilling the dessert for at least two hours allows the layers to set firmly, giving a moist, creamy texture. The combination of Oreo cookies throughout adds chocolatey crunch and familiar flavor.
This no-bake dessert is straightforward to prepare and does not require an oven, making it suited to summertime or quick special occasions. It can be presented as a sliced bar or in smaller portions in cups or trifles.
It’s recommended to chill the dessert thoroughly before serving to allow proper setting. For variety, toppings like mini chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles can be added, and homemade whipped cream can replace store-bought whipped topping.
Ingredients
For the crust
- 32 Oreo cookies
- 6 Tablespoons butter melted, unsalted
For the filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounce whipped topping divided, container
- 2 instant chocolate pudding mix 3 oz boxes
- 10-12 Oreo cookies crushed into small pieces
- 3 cups milk cold
- Oreo cookies crushed, for topping, more
Instructions
- To make the crust, crush 32 Oreo cookies in a large, resealable zip top bag with a meat mallet or large soup can. (You could also crush them using your blender or food processor, which is what I like to do.) Combine the crumbs and melted butter in a bowl, mixing until combined. Press mixture into the bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Place in the refrigerator while you make the next layer.
- In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping, then spread over the chilled crust.
- In a medium sized bowl, mix together the pudding mixes with the cold milk, then stir in the chopped Oreos. Allow to set just slightly, about 2-3 minutes, then spread over the top of the cream cheese layer.
- Spread the rest of the container of whipped topping over the pudding layer. Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Top with more crushed Oreos if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
- Chill the dessert for 2 to 4 hours to ensure proper set and texture before serving.
- Top with extra crushed Oreos, mini chocolate chips, or chocolate sprinkles for added texture and decoration.
- Use homemade whipped cream instead of store-bought whipped topping for a fresher taste.
- This dessert can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to one day wrapped in plastic wrap.
- Serve in a 9x13 pan or layer the components in trifle bowls or individual cups for portioned servings.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
