No Churn Wild Blueberry Frozen Yogurt (3 ingredients!)

This No Churn Wild Blueberry Frozen Yogurt blends plain yogurt with frozen wild blueberries and honey to create a creamy, fruit-forward frozen dessert without specialized equipment. The smooth texture and mildly sweetened berry flavor make it a refreshing treat that can be served immediately or firmer after freezing.

Description

The recipe involves combining plain yogurt with frozen wild blueberries and a modest amount of honey, which balances the tartness of the yogurt and the berries. Using a high-speed blender, the ingredients are mixed until smooth and creamy, careful not to overblend to avoid melting the frozen yogurt.

The wild blueberries contribute a vibrant purplish color and characteristic tart berry flavor. The simplicity of ingredients highlights the yogurt’s creaminess and berry’s freshness without the need for churning or additives.

The frozen yogurt can be eaten immediately for a softer consistency or frozen longer to firm up, with a note that it may become quite hard overnight and benefits from a few minutes at room temperature before serving. Variations include substituting other fruits, using non-dairy yogurts, or adding juice or coconut milk for a smoothie version.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 cups PLAIN yogurt use non-fat, low-fat, or full-fat. You can use flavored yogurt like vanilla as well.
  • 4 cups wild blueberries frozen
  • 3-4 Tbsp honey or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Let the frozen berries sit out for 5 minutes while you gather your ingredients.
  2. Put all the ingredients in a high speed blender, starting with the yogurt, and blend, using the tamper tool to push everything down toward the blades, until it is smooth and creamy. Don't blend too long or the frozen yogurt will start to melt.
  3. Enjoy right away or spread into a container and freeze until firmer. If you leave the frozen yogurt overnight it will become quite hard, so leave it out for several minutes before serving. It's best the day it's made.

Notes

  • Avoid giving honey to children under 12 months due to health risks.
  • Make variations by substituting frozen raspberries, rhubarb, blackberries, pineapple, strawberries, or regular blueberries for wild blueberries.
  • Use non-dairy alternatives like coconut or almond milk yogurt, or omit yogurt entirely and blend fruit with water and honey for a sorbet.
  • Adjust frozen blueberries quantity for a smoothie texture, thinning with fruit juice or coconut milk as needed.
