No Yeast Pizza Dough Recipe
Description
The No Yeast Pizza Dough Recipe replaces yeast with baking powder, allowing for a faster pizza base. The dough is formed by mixing all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder, then gradually adding olive oil and water to reach the right consistency. The method focuses on achieving a smooth, slightly elastic dough that rolls out easily. Baking at 400°F (200°C) for about 13 minutes produces a crisp crust that can hold various toppings without becoming soggy.
The crust’s texture is crisp and firm due to the baking powder, contrasting with yeast dough’s chewiness. This makes it ideal for a quick homemade pizza when yeast activation or long rising time isn’t an option.
Carefully adding water in increments helps adjust for different flour types and climate conditions, ensuring the dough is neither too sticky nor dry. The recipe allows flexibility in hydration, adapting for humid or dry environments.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ Cups all-purpose flour
- ½ Teaspoon salt
- 2 Teaspoon baking powder
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 Cup water
Instructions
- Add the all-purpose flour, salt and baking powder to a mixing bowl. Combine the dry ingredients.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the olive oil and some of the water. Don't add all the water at once but instead add some water, a bit at a time, during the mixing process.
- Start to combine the ingredients by hand or with a kitchen machine.. Form gradually a ball by adding some water at a time. The aim should be a smooth nonsticky ball of dough. If it's too sticky add a small quantity of flour if it's too dry add a few drops of water.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and top it with your favorite pizza toppings.
- Bake at 400 Fahrenheit/ 200 Celsius for about 13 minutes or until crisp and baked through.
Notes
- Add water gradually to accommodate different flour absorbencies and climate conditions.
- Adjust flour or water if the dough feels too sticky or too dry to achieve a smooth ball.
