Nutella S’mores Bars
Description
This recipe starts with a batter of brown sugar, Nutella, butter, vanilla, and egg whites blended until smooth, then folded with self-rising flour. The batter is pressed into a pan and topped with marshmallow creme, which softens but remains distinct after baking. Chocolate chips sprinkled on top partially melt during the bake, creating pockets of chocolate.
The pan is baked until lightly browned, then topped with crushed graham crackers after cooling. These crumbs add a texture contrast and s’mores authenticity. The combination of Nutella’s hazelnut chocolate, sweet marshmallow, and toasted graham crackers evoke the classic campfire treat but in an easy indoor baked form.
Instructions also describe making self-rising flour from all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt if unavailable. The bars are best sliced using a knife warmed in hot water to cleanly cut the sticky marshmallow layer. Storage guidelines allow keeping the bars at room temperature for up to five days or freezing for up to 3 months with proper wrapping.
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup Nutella
- 2 Tablespoons butter softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 egg large, whites
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 marshmallow creme 7 oz jar
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
- 4-5 graham crackers crushed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray and set aside.
- Combine first five ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer over medium speed until smooth. Stir in flour by hand, a bit at a time.
- Press mixture into prepared pan and spread marshmallow creme over the top. Sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips and bake in preheated oven for 20-22 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs and allow to cool completely before cutting.
Notes
- If self-rising flour is unavailable, make your own by mixing 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour with 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder and 3/8 teaspoon salt.
- To slice the bars without sticking, heat a sharp knife in hot water and wipe it dry before cutting.
- Store sliced bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days.
- Freeze prepared bars wrapped tightly with plastic wrap and foil for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour blends and gluten-free graham crackers.
