Nutter Butter Referees
Description
The recipe involves melting vanilla candy coating to dip each Nutter Butter cookie halfway before allowing the coating to harden on wax paper. Black frosting is used to create four vertical stripes, mimicking a referee’s uniform. Candy eyes are attached with frosting to form a face, and additional facial features like mouth and hair are drawn with piping tips or resealable bags filled with frosting. The process requires some setting time but yields playful and visually appealing cookies.
These treats are ideal for themed parties or fun snacks and combine the familiar peanut butter cookie with a smooth vanilla coating and decorative frosting details.
Ingredients
- 20 cookies Nutter Butter brand
- 4 ounces vanilla candy coating (found at Walmart or craft stores)
- black frosting
- Candy eyes edible
Instructions
- Melt vanilla candy coating according to package instructions.
- Dip the lower half of each Nutter Butter cookie in the coating and place on wax paper to set.
- Once the coating has set, draw 4 black vertical lines down the vanilla candy coating. You can use a Wilton #46 tip or you can use a re-sealable plastic bag with the corner cut off.
- Adhere the candy eyes with frosting and draw a mouth and hair on each of the referees using a Wilton #2 or a re-sealable plastic bag filled with frosting with the corner cut off.
Notes
- Vanilla candy coating such as Candiquik can be used; other vanilla coatings or almond bark are suitable substitutes.
