Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bars
Description
This recipe begins by browning butter to develop a deep, nutty aroma and flavor, which is then cooled slightly before mixing with brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Dry ingredients including flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon are incorporated carefully, followed by old fashioned oats and semi-sweet chocolate chips. The dough is spread evenly in a parchment-lined pan, pressed into corners for uniform thickness, and baked until set and golden.
The bars become firm while baking but continue to set as they cool, resulting in a chewy texture with pockets of melted chocolate. A sprinkling of flaky sea salt after baking adds a subtle contrast to the sweetness.
These bars store well for snacks or quick treats and offer a combination of comforting flavors from the browned butter and cinnamon, complemented by chocolate chips and oats.
