Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies combine rolled oats with both brown and granulated sugar and plenty of chocolate chips for a chewy cookie with a balanced texture. The cookies bake to lightly browned edges with soft and slightly puffed centers, offering a classic oatmeal cookie experience with a chocolate twist.

Description

This recipe blends softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until creamy, then whips in eggs and vanilla extract for volume. Dry ingredients include rolled oats, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, which are gently folded into the wet mix along with chocolate chips to distribute evenly.

The dough is portioned with a 3 tablespoon scoop to form larger cookies, baked at 325°F until edges are lightly browned and centers are still slightly soft, then cooled on baking sheets before transferring to racks to finish setting. The resulting cookies have a chewy texture from the oats with bursts of sweetness from the chocolate chips.

Smaller cookies may be made using a tablespoon scoop, with adjusted baking times around 7-8 minutes. The recipe is versatile and yields a batch of generously sized cookies suitable for sharing or storing.

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line light colored baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Cream butter together with brown sugar and granulated sugar.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla to the bowl. Whip until light and fluffy. Scrape the sides of the bowl and stir again briefly to ensure its evenly mixed.
  3. Slowly incorporate dry ingredients to create cookie dough. Fold in chocolate chips by hand.
  4. Cool 3 minutes on baking sheets before transferring to cooling racks. Serve warm or at room temperature.
