Oatmeal Raisin Ice Cream

This Oatmeal Raisin Ice Cream uses frozen banana chunks blended with rolled oats, raisins, cinnamon, and almond milk to create a creamy, soft-serve style treat. The natural sweetness from the bananas complements the chewiness of the oats and raisins, offering a healthy spin on traditional ice cream. It can be enjoyed immediately as a soft dessert or frozen for firmer scoops, making it versatile for various serving preferences.

Description

Oatmeal Raisin Ice Cream combines simple ingredients like frozen bananas, rolled oats, raisins, cinnamon, and almond milk to deliver a dairy-free frozen dessert. By processing these ingredients together, the bananas provide a creamy texture that mimics traditional ice cream, while the oats add a gentle graininess and the raisins contribute bursts of sweetness. The cinnamon enhances warmth and depth in flavor. This ice cream can be served immediately as a soft serve or transferred to a freezer-safe container for a couple of hours to firm up for scooping. It’s a pleasant choice for those seeking a fruit-based cold dessert without the use of heavy cream or refined sugars.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 banana in chunks, frozen
  • cup rolled oats old fashioned
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 2 - 4 Tablespoons almond milk or other non-diary milk, unsweetened vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place frozen banana chunks, oatmeal, raisins, almond milk (start with 2 Tablespoons) and cinnamon into a food processor.
  2. Pulse/process until smooth and creamy. You may need to turn off the motor and stir the mixture a couple times while processing.
  3. Grab bowls and serve immediately. We love this eaten as soft serve right after blending!
  4. For a scoop-able ice cream, transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe dish and freezer for two hours. Scoop and serve.
