Old Fashioned Orange Slice Oatmeal Cookies

These cookies combine the chewiness of oats with shredded coconut and diced candied orange slices for a balanced texture and a hint of citrus sweetness. The dough is flavored with vanilla and uses both baking powder and baking soda for a tender crumb. They bake to a lightly browned finish with crisp edges and a soft center, making them a satisfying treat for those who enjoy fruity oatmeal cookies.

Description

Old Fashioned Orange Slice Oatmeal Cookies bring together classic ingredients like oats and coconut with a notable addition of diced candied orange slices. The dough is creamed with salted butter, granulated, and brown sugars, then combined with eggs and vanilla extract. Flour-based leavening agents help achieve a soft yet structured texture. Baking at 350 degrees produces a golden exterior complementing the moist, tender interior.

This cookie delivers a blend of chewy oats and tropical coconut notes alongside the bright, sweet citrus pieces. The baking method ensures a consistent texture, with just enough firmness to hold the unique inclusions without crumbling.

They work well as a snack or dessert with tea or coffee, or packed in lunchboxes for a touch of sweetness. Their combination of familiar and citrus ingredients is suited to those looking for a slight twist on standard oatmeal cookies.
