One Bowl Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

This chocolate chip cookie recipe uses melted butter combined with brown and white sugars to create a rich, smooth dough. Flour, baking soda, and salt are mixed in, followed by two types of chocolate chips for varied chocolate flavor. The dough is chilled before baking, which improves texture and taste, resulting in cookies with a light golden edge and soft interior.

Description

The One Bowl Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe begins by melting butter and mixing it with brown and white sugars to achieve a creamy base. An egg and vanilla are incorporated to add moisture and flavor. Dry ingredients including flour, baking soda, and salt are stirred in, followed by milk chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate chips to provide a balance of sweetness and slight bitterness. Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes is crucial, and longer chilling up to 24-48 hours enhances flavor and texture.

Cookies are baked at 350°F until just turning golden, resulting in a tender center and lightly crisp edges. The two types of chocolate chips create a varied chocolate profile. This recipe yields cookies with a soft yet slightly chewy texture suitable for snacks or dessert.

Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion the dough evenly on light-colored baking sheets. Baking time adjustment may be needed based on oven variances and desired cookie thickness. Chilling the dough also helps prevent excessive spreading during baking.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cup flour (if you want a thicker cookie, you may use 1 1/2 cups of flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet

Instructions

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, melt butter in the microwave until melted.
  2. Add brown sugar and sugar. Whisk or stir vigorously until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and whisk until silky.
  3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Fold in milk chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Cover bowl with plastic wrap. Place in the refigerator and CHILL for at least 30 minutes. The cookie dough gets better with time. If time is on your side, I suggest chilling it for 24-48 hours. Chilling for at least 30 minutes is essential.
  5. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, place cookie dough on light colored baking sheets. Bake for 10-13 minutes, or until cookies become a light golden color.
