Orange Beef Stir Fry

Make your own take-out with this recipe for orange beef stir fry. The recipe features sirloin steak cooked in a sweet and savory sauce and tossed with fresh orange segments. The sauce only has 4 ingredients!

  • 2 orange whole
  • 2 orange peeled and cut into segments
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak ribeye or flank steak, cut into 1/2-inch-thick strips, trimmed boneless
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 green onions sliced
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • rice steamed, for serving

Instructions

  1. Into a small bowl, grate the zest from 1 orange and squeeze the juice from 2 oranges. Add the garlic and soy sauce to the bowl. Mix the cornstarch with one tablespoon of cold water and add the cornstarch mixture to the bowl.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Working in batches (adding more oil if needed), brown beef on all sides, 3 to 5 minutes; season the meat with salt and pepper and transfer to a plate.
  3. Pour juice mixture into skillet, and boil until syrupy, about 1 minute. Return beef to skillet; add orange segments and green onions. Toss until coated and heated through. Top with sesame seeds and serve with steamed rice if desired.
