Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies
Description
These cookies start by creaming together butter, softened cream cheese, and sugar to build a creamy and slightly tangy base. An egg, vanilla extract, and grated orange zest are beaten in to infuse the dough with moisture and fragrant notes. Flour and salt are combined separately, then folded into the wet ingredients just until combined to maintain a tender texture. Semi-sweet chocolate chips are stirred through to add sweet, melty pockets of chocolate.
The dough is dropped by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Though sticky, the cookie dough bakes at 350°F until the edges are gently browned, usually 12 to 15 minutes, resulting in cookies with a lightly crisp edge and soft, slightly creamy center contrasted by bursts of chocolaty flavor and subtle orange brightness.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 oz cream cheese softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange zest grated
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese and sugar. Add in the egg and beat until smooth. Stir in the vanilla and the orange zest.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and the salt, then mix the flour mixture into the creamed mixture just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Drop the dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. The dough will be sticky. Bake until just browned on the edges, 12-15 minutes.
