Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies
Description
These cookies start with a base of all-purpose flour combined with baking powder, baking soda, and sea salt. Orange zest is mixed with granulated sugar to intensify the citrus aroma before creaming with butter and brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. After blending in the dry ingredients on low speed, dark chocolate chips are folded into the dough.
Cookies are portioned into two-tablespoon balls and baked at 350°F until the edges turn lightly golden, keeping the center soft. After baking, a light sprinkle of sea salt and additional fresh orange zest can be added to enhance the layered flavors. The outcome is a cookie with a balance of sweetness and citrus brightness, along with varying textures from the chocolate chips and salted topping.
These cookies are suitable for enjoying as a snack or dessert, and their orange-chocolate combination offers a distinctive flavor pairing.
