Orange Cookies

Orange Cookies blend butter, sugar, and orange zest into a soft dough with egg yolks and orange juice, then baked to a tender texture. They are gently flattened after baking to create a surface suited for a cream cheese and orange-flavored frosting. This cookie offers a bright citrus taste with a creamy, sweet topping, ideal for those who enjoy a fragrant orange dessert.

Description

The Orange Cookies recipe uses softened butter and granulated sugar creamed together with fresh orange zest to infuse the dough with citrus aroma. Egg yolks and orange juice help bind and flavor the batter, while all-purpose flour with baking powder and baking soda provide a softly risen structure. After scooping dough into balls and baking at 350°F for 11 minutes, each cookie is quickly flattened with a glass bottom to create a flat top for frosting.

The frosting combines cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest to complement the citrus flavor of the cookies. This creamy topping adds moisture and sweetness, balancing the tender cookie base. Baking and topping steps create a soft, fragrant cookie with a smooth, lightly tangy frosting.

Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or refrigerated for up to five days. For best texture, allow refrigerated cookies to sit at room temperature briefly before serving to restore softness.
