Cake

  • 2 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup Fanta
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Mousse

  • 1 box orange gelatin
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Other Layers

  • 1 can mandarin orange sliced
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 Tablespoon sugar

Instructions

Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Combine the eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla in a mixer.
  3. Add the flour and Fanta and mix until well combined.
  4. Lastly add the baking soda. Immediately pour into an ungreased 8 x 8 pan and bake for about 30 minutes.
  5. Cool completely, then crumble into pieces.

Mousse

  1. While the cake is cooling make the mousse filling. Take a box of orange gelatin and make it using the instructions on the box for a quick set.
  2. Whip the cream in the mixer until soft peaks form.
  3. Fold the whipped cream into the gelatin and refrigerate for a few hours.

Trifle

  1. To make the trifle first drain a can of mandarin oranges.
  2. Then whip the cream until stiff peaks form, adding in 2 T. of sugar as it whips.
  3. Make a layer of cake in a jelly jar, and top with mandarin orange slices.
  4. Add a layer of pudding, then repeat the 3 layers again.
  5. Top with whipped cream.
