Orange Peel Shrimp

Orange Peel Shrimp features raw shrimp coated in cornstarch and pan-fried until pink and tender. It’s tossed in a fragrant sauce made with garlic, green onions, orange zest, tomato sauce, orange juice, soy sauce, and optional sriracha for heat. The combination yields a slightly sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy dish with a glossy coating and zesty citrus notes.

Description

The Orange Peel Shrimp recipe starts by tossing raw shrimp in cornstarch to give them a light, crisp coating when fried. The shrimp cook quickly in hot canola oil until just pink and fully cooked, then are removed to drain.

The sauce is created in the same pan by lightly cooking minced garlic, sliced green onions, orange zest, and crushed red pepper flakes for about a minute. A slurry of cornstarch is whisked in along with tomato sauce, orange juice, soy sauce, and optional sriracha. This mixture is simmered until thickened and glossy.

The fried shrimp are returned to the pan to heat through and become fully coated in the orange-infused sauce, which balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors with a bright citrus aroma from the peel and juice. This dish is served immediately to maintain the shrimp’s tender texture and the sauce’s vibrant flavor.
