Oreo Balls - Oreo Truffles
Description
This recipe transforms classic Oreo cookies mixed with softened cream cheese into bite-sized truffles. The crushed cookies retain some texture but blend thoroughly with the cream cheese to form a uniform, moldable mixture. After chilling, each ball is dipped in melted candy melts, coating them in a smooth, sweet shell that hardens as it sets.
Chilling the formed balls before dipping helps maintain their shape, while sprinkling crushed Oreos or peppermint candy on top adds a finishing touch in flavor and appearance. The recipe allows variations like using peppermint extract or different chocolate coatings depending on preference.
The truffles store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator, making them convenient for serving at gatherings or as gifts. The base method does not require specialized equipment, with alternatives provided if a food processor or mixer is unavailable.
