Oreo Fluff
Description
Oreo Fluff involves mixing instant vanilla pudding powder with milk until it sets, then folding in whipped topping to create an airy, smooth base. Crushed Oreo cookies are stirred in without separating the cream filling, distributing chocolatey crunch and texture evenly. An optional addition of softened cream cheese can be blended into the pudding mixture before folding in whipped topping to enhance creaminess and add slight tang.
After assembling, the dessert is chilled at least an hour to firm up and blend flavors. The texture is light and fluffy with chocolate cookie pieces providing contrast. This no-bake dessert is simple to prepare and suitable for casual gatherings or a sweet ending to meals.
Usage and storage notes include using instant pudding powder to avoid a soupy consistency, crushing Oreos to personal preference of chunk size, and storing in the refrigerator covered for up to three days. Freezing is not recommended as it affects the unique fluffy texture.
Ingredients
- 4 cups milk
- 2 (3.4 ounce) packages Instant Vanilla Pudding, or White Chocolate or Oreo pudding
- 2 (8 ounce) tubs whipped topping such as Cool Whip
- 30 chocolate sandwich cookies, such as Oreos, crushed
- 4 ounces cream cheese optional, softened
Instructions
- In a chilled large mixing bowl, stir milk and pudding. Mix until you get a pudding consistently. (Stir in the optional cream cheese. See below for details)
- FOLD in the whipped cream topping.
- Add the crushed cookies (you do not need to remove the frosting center). Stir until combined throughout.
- Cover the bowl with plastic and chill for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Optional
- To make this creamier, add softened cream cheese. Beat the cream cheese until smooth and stir it into the pudding mixture before you add the whipped cream.
Notes
- Use only instant pudding powder to ensure the mixture sets properly and avoids sogginess.
- You may crush Oreos to your preferred size; both coarse chunks or finer crumbs work well.
- The cream filling in the Oreos does not need to be removed before crushing and mixing.
- Oreo Fluff should be refrigerated, covered, and will keep up to three days in the fridge.
- Avoid freezing Oreo Fluff as it will lose its characteristic fluffy texture upon thawing.
- Adding softened cream cheese before folding in whipped topping gives the dish a creamier, richer texture.
