Oreo Pie Crust
Description
The Oreo Pie Crust recipe starts by grinding whole Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor, which serves as the foundation for the crust. These crumbs are then combined with melted butter, which acts as a binder to hold the mixture together once pressed into the pie dish. The crust is pressed evenly and firmly along the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan to ensure it holds the filling well during serving.
Once assembled, baking the crust at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes sets the mixture, creating a crispy shell with a rich chocolate flavor infused from the Oreos. This baked crust offers a stable and flavorful base suitable for a variety of pie fillings including cheesecakes, custards, or cream pies.
In addition to the classic chocolate Oreos, the recipe notes that golden Oreos can be used for a different flavor and color. It can also be doubled for larger pans or prepared as a no-bake crust by chilling instead of baking if paired with a refrigerated filling. The crust can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen to save time when assembling desserts.
Ingredients
- 24 Oreo cookies
- 5 Tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Add the whole Oreo cookies to a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. Pour the crumbs into a bowl and stir in melted butter.
- Press mixture evenly and firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9 inch pie dish (I like to use the back of a small measuring cup to press). Bake for 10-12 minutes. Set aside to cool
Notes
- The crust can be made up to a day ahead and stored covered in the refrigerator.
- To freeze the crust, press it into a freezer-safe dish, cover tightly with plastic wrap and foil, and freeze up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before filling.
- For no-bake fillings, skip baking and chill the crust for one hour before adding the filling.
- Substitute regular Oreos with gluten-free Oreos for a gluten-free crust.
- Double the ingredients to make a crust for a 9x13-inch pan.
- Use golden Oreos instead of chocolate for a different flavor and color variation.
