Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 tablespoons butter 1 stick, salted
  • 6 oz. bittersweet chocolate chopped, bars
  • 4 oz. semisweet chocolate chopped, bar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract pure
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup Oreo cookies chopped
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Toppings

  • Ice cream
  • Whipped Cream sweetened
  • hot fudge sauce
  • caramel sauce
  • Oreo cookies crushed
  • chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles
  • nuts like chopped pecans or walnuts
  • maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Choose a high-sided oven-safe skillet to bake your brownies in and spritz with nonstick baking spray. (I used an 8” cast iron skillet.)
  2. Melt the butter in the skillet over medium heat on the stovetop. You may also do this in a bowl in the microwave.
  3. When melted, turn down the heat to low.
  4. Stir in the chopped chocolate, stirring constantly until completely melted.
  5. Turn off the heat. Measure in the sugar, stirring vigorously with a rubber spatula until combined. Let cool for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Break the eggs in a separate bowl. Measure the vanilla into the bowl with them. Whisk with a whisk or a fork until combined.
  7. Temper the egg mixture with a spoonful of the chocolate mixture, stirring vigorously to combine and warm up the eggs to where they do not scramble in the brownie mixture.
  8. Pour the egg-vanilla mixture into the skillet, stirring vigorously to incorporate all the wet ingredients.
  9. Add the flour and salt to the skillet, stirring until just combined.
  10. Next, add the chopped Oreos and chocolate chips and fold to incorporate into the batter.
  11. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven, and bake for 30-35 minutes or until cooked through. (If you're a fan of gooey brownies, check this around the 25-minute point.)
  12. Top with your favorite garnishes, and enjoy warm straight out of the oven!
