Our Favorite Banana Bread
Description
Our Favorite Banana Bread blends mashed bananas with a simple batter of flour, baking soda, salt, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream or plain Greek yogurt. Baking soda helps the bread rise while the sour cream maintains moisture and a tender crumb.
The loaf is baked in a 9x5 inch pan until a tester comes out clean, then cooled completely before slicing. Mini chocolate chips sprinkled on top add small pockets of sweet, melty chocolate that complement the banana flavor. The bread has a moderately dense texture and a rich, slightly sweet taste balanced by the tang of the sour cream.
This banana bread works well for breakfast, snacks, or an easy dessert. It stores well and can be sliced to share or freeze. The recipe adapts easily to different flavor additions or toppings while maintaining a moist, tender loaf.
