Panda Express Chow Mein (Perfect Copycat)

Panda Express Chow Mein imitates the restaurant-style stir-fried noodles using yakisoba noodles cooked without seasoning. The recipe stir-fries sliced onions, cabbage, and celery in neutral oil until lightly caramelized, then tosses in the noodles with soy and oyster sauces. This mix yields tender, lightly charred vegetables embraced by a savory sauce coating the noodles evenly.

Description

The preparation starts by thinly slicing the onions, cabbage, and celery on the bias to create uniform vegetable pieces. Heating neutral cooking oil until hot allows for quick sautéing of the vegetables, which develop slight caramelization bringing mild sweetness and texture contrast.

Once the vegetables are softened and caramelized, the cooked yakisoba noodles are added and tossed together to combine. Soy sauce and oyster sauce provide a salty, umami-rich coating that complements the vegetables and noodles without overpowering them.

This chow mein copycat delivers stir-fried noodles with a balance of savory flavors and tender-crisp vegetables reminiscent of the restaurant version. It can be served as a side dish or main entree in an Asian-inspired meal.
