Parmesan Corn on the Cob Recipe

Parmesan Corn on the Cob is prepared by coating shucked corn halves with a seasoned butter mixture of Parmesan cheese, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt. The corn is cooked either in the oven or on the grill, allowing the butter and cheese to melt and the corn to develop charred, smoky flavors. Garnished with extra Parmesan and green onions, this preparation adds savory and mildly smoky notes to sweet corn.

Description

This recipe mixes finely grated Parmesan cheese with softened butter, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt to create a flavorful spread. The corn cobs are first broken in half for easier handling and eating, then generously coated with the Parmesan butter mixture pressed on firmly. Cooking options include baking at a high temperature, where the corn bakes for 20 minutes and optionally broils for a few minutes to add char, or grilling on a BBQ with foil or a grill mat for 10 to 12 minutes with turning, which produces charring and smoky flavor.

The resulting corn is tender with a golden, slightly crispy exterior from the butter and cheese. The smoked paprika adds depth and warmth, balancing the natural sweetness of the corn. Garnishing with more grated Parmesan and sliced green onions enhances savory and fresh elements. This makes for a flavorful side dish or snack.

Breaking the corn cobs in half makes them more manageable as a finger food and helps portion control. This recipe can be made with whole cobs if preferred. Both baking and grilling methods allow for versatility depending on kitchen equipment or weather.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese finely grated
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt sea salt
  • 4 ears corn shucked and broken in half (see notes
  • Parmesan Cheese optional, grated, for garnish
  • green onions optional, grated, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix the parmesan, butter, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
  2. Spread the butter evenly over the pieces of corn, using your hands to press the butter on firmly.
  3. Choose one of the cooking methods (below) then serve the cooked corn with a little parmesan cheese and some sliced green onions on top.

Baked Corn on the Cob

  1. Preheat your oven to 420 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the parmesan buttered corn on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes - do not turn the corn. For corn with a few char marks, broil during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

BBQ Corn on the Cob

  1. Preheat your grill on high heat. Either wrap the parmesan buttered corn in foil or (preferably) use a grill mat. BBQ for 10-12 minutes, turning a few times until the corn is cooked through and has several char marks.

Notes

  • Breaking corn cobs in half makes them easier to eat and serve.
  • Use baking or grilling methods based on your available cooking setup.
  • Broiling at the end of baking adds appealing char marks.
  • Garnish with additional Parmesan and green onions for extra flavor.
