Pasta with basil cream sauce

Pasta with basil cream sauce features a smooth, herb-infused cream sauce made from butter, sautéed onion and garlic, fresh basil, and heavy cream. The sauce is seasoned with dried herbs, lemon juice, and black pepper, then blended until velvety. It complements cooked pasta or can be served over cooked chicken for a creamy and aromatic dish.

Description

This recipe begins by melting butter and gently cooking finely chopped onion until translucent. Minced garlic, fresh roughly chopped basil, and optional dried herbs like basil, rosemary, sage, thyme, or Herbs de Provence are added and cooked briefly to release their flavors. Heavy cream is poured in and simmered for 5 to 7 minutes until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

The sauce is then blended using a food processor, blender, or immersion blender to achieve smoothness. Once blended, lemon juice, salt, and freshly ground black pepper are added and the sauce is brought back to a simmer. The final sauce is poured over cooked pasta—about 500 grams in weight—or alternatively served atop cooked chicken.

This basil cream sauce delivers a rich texture balanced by the brightness of lemon juice and aromatic herbs, making it a versatile accompaniment for various meals.
