Peach and Almond Crisp (gluten free)

Peach and Almond Crisp is a gluten-free dessert featuring ripe peaches tossed in lemon juice and topped with a crumbly mixture of almond flour, brown sugar, sliced almonds, butter, and almond extract. Baked until golden and bubbling, the crisp offers tender, juicy peaches beneath a crunchy almond topping, creating a balance of sweet fruit and nutty textures. It is best served warm with cream or ice cream for added richness.

Description

The Peach and Almond Crisp layers freshly peeled and sliced ripe peaches that are lightly tossed in lemon juice to maintain brightness and prevent browning. The topping consists of almond flour blended with brown sugar, sliced almonds, unsalted butter, and almond extract combined until crumbly by hand. This nut-based topping provides a gluten-free alternative to traditional oat or flour crisps, delivering a rich almond flavor and pleasing crunch.

Baking at 375°F until the topping is browned and the fruit juices bubble creates a warm dessert with a crisp, nutty crust contrasting the soft, sweet peaches beneath. The lemon juice adds a slight tang that complements the natural sweetness of the peaches and enhances flavor complexity.

This crisp can be served hot with accompaniments like crème fraîche, whipped cream, heavy cream, or ice cream. Vanilla bean ice cream pairs particularly well, adding cool creaminess against the warm fruit and crunchy topping.

Watch the topping as it bakes to prevent over-browning, covering with foil partway through if necessary. The recipe offers a straightforward gluten-free option for a classic fruit crisp with an almond twist.
