Peach Dump Cake
Description
Peach Dump Cake uses fresh peeled and sliced peaches combined with sugar, which are then spread in a baking dish. The peaches are covered with vanilla or yellow cake mix, and sliced butter is evenly distributed on top. When baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, the butter melts and blends with the cake mix, forming a golden, bubbly topping as the peaches soften beneath. The distinct layering results in a moist fruit base with a crisp, cake-like crust.
The dessert has a balance of sweet fruit flavors with a tender peach filling topped by a buttery, lightly crisp cake topping. Peaches release their juices during baking, making the bottom layer juicy, while the cake mix creates a textured surface with rich butter flavor.
Peach Dump Cake is served warm, often accompanied by vanilla bean ice cream, which complements the warmth with a cool, creamy texture. It is an excellent choice to showcase ripe peaches and requires minimal preparation.
The recipe suggests baking for 42 to 50 minutes until golden and bubbly, then allowing it to set for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Using sugar amounts based on peach sweetness allows customization of the dessert's sweetness.
Ingredients
- 6 cups peach peeled and sliced, about 6-7 large peaches, fresh
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup sugar (depending on sweetness of peaches)
- 1 box vanilla cake mix or yellow cake mix
- 3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks, cut into thin slices)
Garnish:
- vanilla bean ice cream (optional)
Instructions

- Pour peaches into a 9 x 13 pan and evenly spread out. Sprinkle cake mix all over the peaches.
