Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars
Description
The bars start by creaming butter and peanut butter with brown sugar, then adding eggs and vanilla before combining with a leavened flour mixture. Spread into a greased pan, the batter is topped with chocolate chips pressed lightly on the surface. Oven baking at 350°F until the center firms and edges begin to brown creates bars that balance a chewy texture with a tender crumb. The peanut butter flavor is prominent throughout.
These bars are convenient for serving sliced, suitable for casual snacking or dessert. The chocolate chips on top melt into the surface, enhancing the peanut butter base with sweet, creamy bites.
They store well at room temperature for a few days and freeze easily when wrapped properly. Variations can include swapping or mixing different types of chocolate chips or adding peanut butter cups or nuts to the batter for extra texture.
Freeze half the batch to enjoy later and avoid overeating.Wrap and slice bars after cooling to keep them moist.Store leftovers airtight at room temperature for up to three days.Chocolate chip varieties can be mixed or substituted for variety.Adding peanut butter cups or chopped peanuts can enhance texture.
